While some leaks are obvious whether it may be a leaky faucet or toilet, many leaks are under ground or in the wall making them unseen. Water leaks can be anywhere from a dripping faucet to a water line breaking upstairs and flooding downstairs creating big issues. This can lead to wasted money on water or damage to the home. Knowing what to look for can save money. Here are a few tips from your AZ plumbers.
Signs of Water Damage
With plumbing leaks that are obvious, there are a few signs to look for. Water leaks in walls can cause mold or mildew to grow. Walls and floors can be warped or discolored indicating some kind of leak. Some leaks can also create a “hissing” noise. Hidden leaks won’t always be as obvious and can leach far away from the actual leak itself creating confusion.
Check the Water Meter
This is the first and most clear way to seeing if there is a leak. First, make sure all of the fixtures are off and no water is being used. Once all of the fixtures (showers, faucets, dishwashers, etc.) are turned off and no water is being ran in the house or landscape, go the the water heater and check your reading. Leave everything off for an hour or so and check the your reading again. If it has changed then you have a hidden water leak.
These are just a few of the ways to check. We recommended that you have a professional come out to diagnose the leak before it gets worse. Our plumbers can pinpoint any leak using the newest camera and leak locate technology. Creating the least mess and headache possible.
